In the spring of 1997 a small group of believers began meeting in homes seeking God’s will about starting a new church in Anderson.  Once they sensed God leading them to launch out by faith and begin this new venture, they prayerfully chose the name “Covenant.”  The word “covenant” means “a vow, an agreement, or a promise.”  This name was chosen because this small group of believers made a covenant with God and with one another to “Love God, love others, and to minister to those around them.”

Through the years Covenant has changed in many ways.  We have relocated three times.  We have added staff, constructed buildings, started new ministries, and experienced growth.  But one thing remains the same, our mission.

As a church we are still committed to loving God.  We seek to express that love through authentic passionate worship and by constantly and sincerely seeking to know and do His will in every area.   Jesus is the Head of the church and it is our desire to obey and please Him.

As the head of the church, Jesus made it clear that He wants us to go into all the world and make disciples.  He wants us to do whatever it takes to spread the good news that God loves this world and that He made a way for people to have forgiveness of sins and eternal life through faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.

As a church we are still committed to loving people.  We are not a perfect church, but we do have a heart for people.  It is our goal to love not only the members of our church, but the people of our community as well.  We want to express our love for people by ministering to the real needs of real people through the practical teaching of God’s Word and through the many ministries of our church.

In short, we want to help all people in all places to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ so they might experience the eternal and abundant life that God offers to us freely through faith in and obedience to Jesus Christ.

This is the mission of Covenant.  If you and your family would like to be a part of this great mission we would love to have you join us!
