Want to engage?

God calls us to serve, to bless others’ lives, to find a sense of community, and to increase our own capacity to love.  Whether you want to serve inside the walls of our church, on our city streets, or in another country, we have exciting ways for you to get involved.

It takes many volunteers to make the services at Covenant Baptist happen every weekend.  We’re always looking for more people to do everything from hang out with kids to making coffee.  Just give it a try.  You can meet new friends and grow spiritually. Here are just a few ways to get “Engaged” in the body of Christ.

If you are interested in serving in any of these ministries or just want more information please click on the “Serving Opportunities” logo and a staff member will contact you as soon as possible.

Care Ministry

Hospital Visitation

This ministry welcomes people who are gifted in encouraging the sick and the hurting. We visit those from our membership and those connected to our membership who are in local and regional hospitals.

Homebound Visitation

Our Homebound Ministry exists to visit, encourage, and minister to members and friends of our church who may be unable to attend services or who need encouragement from the Body of Christ during the week.  Each Monday morning at 10:00 am groups meet at the church to send out cards, make calls, and make visits.

Prayer Team

The prayer team is a group of people committed to praying earnestly for those in our church and community who are in need.  If you would like to be part of this ministry, you can sign up and prayer requests will be sent to you by email.  This allows the body of Christ to be aware of the needs of others and to bear one another’s burdens.

Small Groups

We offer many small group Bible study opportunities for all ages and stages of life.   As we study the book of Acts we find that Christians gathered in small groups not only for Bible study, but for prayer, praise, and care for one another as well.  If you wish to receive and extend care to others, join a small group today.

First Impressions Team (FIT)

Greeting & Usher Team

The Guest Team welcomes every person who comes to our church and is stationed in specific areas including every entrance to the church and at every sanctuary entrance.  The Usher Team welcomes guests into the worship service by helping guests find seats, receiving the offering, and make guests feel at home.

Parking & Driving Team

The Parking Team creates a friendly and fun experience in our church parking lot by directing traffic and keeping spirits high.   The Driving Team continues the engaging environment in the parking lot by picking up and driving guests through the parking lot to the most convenient building entrance.

Hospitality & Guest Services Team

Our Hospitality Team extends a personal touch by preparing and providing snacks/coffee for everyone.  Our Guest Services team is equipped to answer any question about our church, provides tours of our building, and is available to help our guests during the worship experience.

Security Team

The security team works behind the scenes patrolling the halls and parking lots to ensure the safety of our church families.

Covenant Kidz Ministry

Childrens Church

This ministry offers the opportunity to work with the preschool-3rd grade children on a deeper level.  In this ministry we start integrating things like videos, power points, and media into our Bible Studies.  If your enjoy teaching children, talking with and loving on children, making or running powerpoint presentations, or making crafts that go with Bible stories, we could use you in the Children’s Church ministry.

Sunday School Ministry

This is a great opportunity to work with infants or our older children.  We could use you as a nursery worker or as a teacher/assistant for one of the Sunday School classes.

Awana Ministry

There are so many ways to serve in this ministry!   We are always in need of volunteers to help with games, teaching, check-in, the Awana store, and the year end ceremony.

Summer Sizzle

Summer Sizzle is our summer Wednesday night program.  We have 4 rotations:  Bible story, crafts, games, and snacks.  If you enjoy working in these areas, we could use you during our Summer Sizzle program – June through August 6:30-7:30 pm.

Overflow Student Ministry

Sunday School

This is an opportunity to “teach” the Bible to the next generation.  Our curriculum and philosophy is simple.  We use the KNOWN Bible study material which has a holistic approach to spiritual development.  It helps our students Know Christ, Own their faith, and make their faith Known.

Adult Leadership Team

This is a team of adult leaders that help mostly during our Wednesday Night Worship Service which includes the opportunity to serve as a greeter, work in our cafe, help with check in, audio visual, or with games.   Each is such a vital part of our ministry.

Chaperone Team

This ministry may seem like the easiest but don’t be fooled…it may be one of the most important.   These are adults that look out for the well being of the students during small and large events, community work, and mission trips.  It’s a great responsibility but it is incredibly rewarding as well.

Small Groups Ministry

This ministry is as rewarding for the adults as it is for the students.  There are several opportunities to serve.   We have small groups Bible studies at church twice a month on Sunday nights, periodic Home Groups, and discipleship training. Each one of these groups need facilitators, co-facilitators, those that provide meals, and behind the scenes help.

Small Groups

Sunday School

Sunday School is a place where people and churches can be transformed through your teaching of God’s word. You would play a huge part in growing leaders for the church’s mission, increasing people’s sense of belonging and commitment to stewardship, providing a place for new people to make friends and learn to grow as disciples, and deepening people’s understanding of God’s activity in all of life.

Home Groups

Home Groups have proven to be one of the most effective ways to study God’s Word together and discuss the issues and challenges of life.  It’s also where we pray, care for one another, and let people know they are missed if they don’t show up.  We need committed leaders to facilitate/co-facilitate, or lead, each one of these meetings.   Are you interested?  If so, contact us immediately.  Our new Home Groups begin in the Fall of 2011.

Missions

Being a part of Missions is simply giving…giving of support, your time, and talents.  As a church, we help support over 10,000 missionaries around the world through our giving to the Southern Baptist Convention and through other ministries like Africa for Jesus, MARC, UKraine Missions, Military Care Packages, youth missions, and much more.  ”What would you give to change the world?”

Music & Worship

Choir Ministry

The Worship Choir is for any adult who loves to sing and worship.  No audition is required.  We rehearse on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm.  Do you work on Wednesdays?  No problem.  Listening CDs are available 2 or 3 times a month and all of the listening is posted online each week.  The Worship Choir leads in worship most every Sunday morning in both services.  We also present a Christmas program with a live Orchestra each December.

Praise Team & Band

Praise Team is the smaller vocal group and Praise Band is the instrumental group and both are by audition.  The Praise Team and Band lead in worship on a regular basis.

Creative Arts

This includes those that have a love for creative communication—whether that’s video, lighting, stage design, music, or behind-the-scenes work—we’ll find a way to get you involved.   It also include such ministries as our Drama Team and Interpretive Movement Team.
